English | A beautiful map of Poitiers in France with a numbered legend. Two coats or arms adorn the sky with the right arms shows a red lion on a white background, topped by three golden "Fleurs de lys," the royal character. The left coat shows a book on a white background, also accompanied by the royal character. Sebastian Münster (1488-1552) was a famous cosmographer, humanist and Hebrew scholar. In his youth he was a member of the Franciscan Order. He is a major figure in European cartographer and is renown for his maps made on a wood template. Diese Legende umfasst die wichtigsten Gebäude der Stadt, die wiederum in der Ansicht nummeriert sind. Oben rechts und links werden zwei Wappen vom Himmel umschlossen. Das rechte Wappen zeigt einen roten Löwen auf weißem Grund, gekrönt von den drei goldenen „Fleurs de lys“, dem königlichen Zeichen.
