A map of Geneva and Lake Geneva. The cantons of Fribourg and Bern are shown. Title cartouche is on the top right. Jodocus Hondius published a smaller edition of Gerhard Mercators atlas entitled 'Atlas Minor'. The maps contained within were largely based on Mercator's earlier work. This smaller format proved popular and was published in several editions. Hondius Henricus (1597-1651) was a younger son of Jodocus Hondius engraver and publisher. He worked both alone and with his brother in law Johannes Janssonius based in Amsterdam. Tooley's Dictionary of Mapmaker, Early World Press, 2004, p366
