ORIGINAL

The Kingdom of Hungary shown in its former extension to the Carpathian Mountains in the northeast, to the Lake Balaton in the south, the Neusiedler See in the west and Szatmar Máramaros in the east. Great emphasis has been placed on precision and numerous cities, rivers, mountains and forests shown. Buda and Pest are accurately identified by their position on either side of the Danube. From 1536 to 1784 the capital of the Hungerian kingdom was Bratislava. The Duchy of Styria and Austria Archduchy, Poland and the Principality of Transylvania were areas of contention between the Ottomans and the Habsburgs. Nicolas Sanson is generally considered to be the founder of French cartography. He was a military engineer before turning to cartography and would produce over 300 maps throughout his career. ORIGINALKARTE
