The kingdom of Denmark in high detail and excellent color. The area of Emden to Kolberg and the southern tip of Norway is shown. The map is northerly orientated and has English labels. On the left and right borders are representations of people in customery clothing. These include women in traditional dress from the Iderland, Upsor, Upsil, Stapelholm, Ditmarschen and Husum. The top of the map has a portrait of King Christian IV of Denmark and Norway, also the Duke of Schleswig and Holstein. Next to his portrait of are images of the cities of Copenhagen, Helsingborg and Landskrona. Included is the coat of arms of the Danish king. In the upper right corner is a portrait of Frederick III (1609-1670), heir to the throne of Norway and Denmark. In 1611 John Speed (1552-1629) published a large "History of Great Britain". To complement the text, maps for England and Wales were included. These maps would earn him a great reputation. In 1627 he published an atlas entitled "The Prospect Of The World", the first Atlas made in Britain. Tooley's Dictionary of Mapmaker, Early World Press, 2004, p193
