A beautiful and detailed map of Denmark, Schleswig-Holstein and the southern coast of Sweden. The large and decorative cartouche at the top right has the coat of arms of Denmark. Johann Baptist Homann (1664-1724) was the cartographer of The Holy Roman Empire from 1715 and a member of the Prussian Royal Academy of Sciences. His work would be continued after his death by a company called The Homman Heirs. He is often referred to as the most famous German map maker of the 18th century Reference Tooley's Dictionary of Mapmaker, Early World Press, 2004, p 361-362

Drei Meilenzeiger. Johann Baptist Homann wurde bezeichnet als "der berühmteste deutsche Kartenmacher des 18. Jahrhunderts" - John Goss.
