Provence in southeastern France on the Mediterranean coast. In 1591 Jean Pierre and Jean Pierre de Baompar, published a series of maps of Provence. Abraham Ortelius followed in 1595 with his map. The boundaries of the landscape are similar. On the top left is a beautiful decorative title cartouche. The Mediterranean Sea is traversed by various sailing ships.The area of Provence is precisely labeled with a major emphasis placed on church property. Abraham Ortelius (1527-1598) was one of the most important figures in cartographer in this period. He is best known for his 'Theatrum Orbis Terrarum' generally considered the first Atlas. Pierre Jean oder Jean Pierre de Baompar hat als erster, 1591 eine Reihe von Karten der Provence herausgegeben. Abraham Ortelius folgte 1595 mit seiner Karte. Die Provence, eine Landschaft im Südosten Frankreichs am Mittelmeer. Die Grenzen der Landschaft verlaufen heute noch ähnlich. Oben links schöne dekorative Titelkartusche. Das Mittelmeer wird von verschiedenen Segelschiffen befahren. Die Karte ist auffällig koloriert, so dass sich der dargestellte Bereich besonders hervorhebt. Das Gebiet der Provence ist ausgezeichnet beschriftet. Ein Hauptaugenmerk wurde dabei auf die geistlichen Güter gelegt. Neben diesen Bezeichnungen finden sich viele künstlerische Hinweise auf die natürliche Beschaffenheit des Gebietes.
