English | This portrait of Jan Huyghen van Linschoten was completed by Belgian engraver and goldsmith Theodore de Bry. Van Linschoten was a Dutch traveler and Historian. He returned from his international travels in 1592 and his findings were published as ‘Itinerario, voyagie ofte Ship-vaert’. Later editions were published with English, Latin, French and Dutch text. The engraver De Bry worked in England between 1586-1588. He engraved maps for English edition of ‘The Mariners Mirrour’ and later his own ‘Grand Voyages’ which was completed by his sons in 1601.
